DON QUIXOT I SANCHO PANZA AUTOMATON. c.1890-1910
YEAR: 1890
DIMENSIONS:
The Spanish automaton ‘Don Quixote and Sancho Panza’ is one of the most complex automatons in existence. The iconic couple of Spanish literature was built at the end of the 19th century or beginning of the 20th century. Contemplating its 22 different movements is quite a spectacle. The movements vary from the lance to the head of the rider's horse, which appears on one of the pages of the book held by the ingenious nobleman. On the front of the wooden box there is a reference to Gran cava Rovellats.
